Actually, both "Soiface" ("Ride the Surface Way") and 1940's "Fack-Oh" and NYCO ("Go the Motor Coach Way"). " 'stoa's" script was the "Tee-Yay's" and considerably different. |

Speaking of "above the window" script lettering.........
Recall the big TDH-5502s (the only ones built) for the CMCCo ("Shik-aka")
I have one framed historic photo given to me nearly 30 years ago, showing CMCCo #544, with the slogan "THE BOULEVARD ROUTE" (in script) quite priminent over the windows....quite stylish, indeed!

Further..........
Through the mid-1950s, the (now sadly defunct) "DE CAMP" had its name spelled out in block letters under the windows; by the later 1950s, the buses now carried the stylish, attractive "DE CAMP BUS LINES" script over the windows, and was thus displayed for many years............

Also........
Several other NJ-based carriers also utilized script lettering on its buses, including:

RED & TAN
BLUE & WHITE

That Pioneer bus in the 2d photo . . . I know the color scheme is different, but in how it was shaped, I wonder if they took after the "Em-Tee-Yay's" two-tone blue scheme . . .

W.B.:
Funny you should note this........
I also was thinking along the same lines, with the "Em-Tee-Yay's" two-tone blue arrangement coming to mind.
I now wonder what the "Are-Tee-Es" might have looked like, adorned in that two-tone blue?
Interestingly, the scheme worn by the "Are-Tee-Es" seemed to fit them, but looked totally out-of-place when applied to the Fishbowls and "Dangerfields"............

I'm just 'briving a dus'......."
Earlier, 1010 WINS anchor Scott Stanford reported that, yesterday, Mayor Mamdani boarded a "Q70" bus on Roosevelt Avenue, and got behind the wheel, a la Ralph Kramden, while discussing the future of free buses on all lines.
The busy "Q70", according to Mr. Stanford, is currently the only free route in the city...........

The name "New Flyer" has long reminded me of the old "Radio Flyer" red wagons from people's childhood (which they still make, B.T.W.):

W.B.:
Yours Truly, well over 60 years ago, also had one of those iconic "RADIO FLYERS"; mine became a makeshift NHBL bus, and I still remember calling out stops, intoning "PLEASE LEAVE BY THE REAR DOOR"......hey, I was only 7!
(sure was LOT of fun, though!)
