These views show the bus action at this intersection.
The three buses are ex-Surface Transit still in their Surface colors but with the new MaBSTOA logo under the drivers window.
The fishbowl was recently painted into the new MaBSTOA color.
Note the script Ride the Surface Way and the Surface Transit name were removed from the buses.

An ex-Fifth Avenue Coach number 2646 now working for MaBSTOA is heading south on 5th Avenue just crossing 42nd Street.

Personal memory:
When Your's Truly was still a very young lad, Mom and I would sometimes come into the city (via the NHBL #5) and then take an ex-"Soiface" bus across town, to visit my godmother, who was then working in an office near 1sr Avenue.
WHAT A TREAT to ride an old "Soiface" bus!!!!!!!!!

So much has vanished from whatwas seen in those vintage photos; the buses, the colorful taxis, the autos, the traffic lights......most of the wll-dressed pedestrians have long since passed on. 
Photos like these are indeed priceless "time capsules".........so much to remember.......
