On this day in 1964............

Today is the first day of "World's Fair Express" service on the IRT #7 line.

Service is provided by the splashy,smart-looking new "Bluebird" trains; these expresses began their runs at Times Square, and stopped only at 5th Avenue and Grand Central, before running non-stop to the Fair.

The IND briefly operated "specials" between Hoyt-Schemerhorn and Roosevelt Avenue, but these trains were soon discontinued due to low ridership.

The LIRR also operated specials to the Fair, out Penn Station and Jamaica................

In-between Fair "seasons," the "Tee-Yay" got their first "Dangerfields" (5001-5165) and " 'stoa" got their second set of "Bullet" Fishbowls (5201-5525).

W.B.:

Wondering if any "Dangerfields"or "Bullets" operated to the Fair?

As all the "Dangerfields" at that point were all assigned to one depot (Flatbush), I'd say in the negative. And if any " 'stoa" "Bullet" operated, it'd likely have been via the 15 - Jackson Heights and/or 16 - Elmhurst lines (which were by this point assigned to 54th Street in Manhattan) with transfer points at their upmost termini to buses that did go to the Fair.

"Woild's Fair" bus service......

Something is telling me that the "Tee-Yay" did not use "Kramdens"on the route(s) to the '64 Fair..........

I've noticed that too . . . more like the "Chef of the Past" in that "Handy Housewife Helper" commercial . . .
