And here we have #631, the one-of-a-kind "Batwing Bomber", the most distinctive bus then in the "stoa" fleet (too bad not more "Bombers" were so fitted out!)

Both the "Bombers" and the rebranded "Metro B's" had the same "yuuuuge" roll signs, with type as big as about 8". |

Oversized milk cartons, Slinkies, rolling Wurlitzer accordions, and robotic caterpillars from another planet will "soitanly" do enough to instill such nostalgia for even a "Borough Bomber," let alone the rebranded version "Metro B" and classics like the "Shermans / Kramdens," "Pattons," Fishbowls, "Dangerfields" and "Torpedos." |

Man, you've got that right!
I DO think, however, you have to come up with another "moniker" for the "bendy buses", instead of "Mighty Wurlitzer"......after all, think about it.....a REAL Wurlitzer DOES indeed make BEAUTIFUL music, which is indeed something that CANNOT be said for the oversized "Slinkies" of today.........

Now, HERE'S an interesting "What If?"..........
Supposing that the "Em-Tee-Yay" did NOT go gung-ho with the ill-fated "Bombers", and, instead, eventually purchased large numbers of the long-lived and reliable "FLX METRO"?
Recall, in the 1980s, FLXIBLE was indeed keeping quite busy, rebuilding over 800 ex-MTA "Bombers" for resale to NJT, Cincinatti, and Puerto Rico.
Those running in "Joisey" (including the "indies") Your's Truly indeed knew QUITE well for many a year....I still miss 'em..........

| These buses did nothing for me visually. Their only redeeming value was that they still had the Detroit Diesel 2-cycle engines. |

Though, indeed, these buses were quite boxy and angular in design, they, at least, did NOT resemble giant mutated insects or monstrous caterpillars!! 
I rode these buses for many years, when I was still working; the drivers I was friends with at the time all thought they were good performing buses, and liked them a lot.
The last disappeared from my area close to 20 years ago......man, where does the time get to..............

Speaking of "stoa"...........
Curious as to which "stoa" route saw the "foist" GRUMMAN.
Too, how did drivers "take" to these buses?
I know that, in later years, the "En-Jay-Tee", ACADEMY, and "indie" drivers I once knew on a daily basis were all pretty much pleased with the Metro "B's".
One driver on the old NHBL I was buddies with said that he liked the GRUMMAN (rebuilt) that he drove, but he DID admit he missed the Fishbowls he drove for a number of years; the last was an ex-Cleveland bus, whose seats retained their original color scheme, even after the bus was repainted............

What "Torpedos" replaced the very last of the GRUMMAN "Bombers"?
What lines ("Em-Tee-Yay" and "stoa") saw their very last "Bombers" (and when?) replaced by the "Torpedos"?
