RailBus63,
I'm sorry that I have not gotten back to you on Jamaica's turnstile setup on Parsons Boulevard yet.
Everyone I've checked with in the know on such things tells me that it's an interesting question that they can't answer.
There are a number of possibilities;
They may have had an arrangement with a nearby business to store the equipment in off hours.
They may have delivered it to the location and then picked it up for return to the garage each day (an unlikely and costly scenario!).
It may have been bolted to the ground and just covered when not in use (another unlikely scenario for obvious reasons).
Actually, it could have been loaded on the first bus from the garage and returned in the last bus (a maybe scenario!).
I can't think of anything else but I'll certainly continue to inquire.
Regards,
Mr. 'L' |

I was just curious, so thanks for inquiring. A fascinating operation, to say the least!

I just finished reading your excellent history of JBI.
Well done, Mr. L (as usual!!!)
You and Mr. Hughes truly did an outstanding job.
I'm glad MBS has seen fit to tell the story of the old PBL's. |

Bob,
I apologize for the delay in thanking you for your kind remarks.
In truthfulness, the MCA Jamaica article was a team effort with both Mr. Hughes and Eli Bail responsible for doing 'yeoman's service' and who, without which, the account would never have been recorded.
It's almost unbelievable that the smallest private company in Queens could have had such a long and interesting history.
It was my pleasure to have contributed what I did for the project.
Thanks again,
Mr. 'L' |
