Mr. "L":

Mom has made great progress in a little less than two weeks; if all goes well, she could be home within the next week-and-a-half.....she is a VERY strong woman!

(Thanks for asking!)

The timeless styling of that handsome Flxible is a perfect match for that stylish hotel, which seems to come straight out of one of the 1955 "Hollywood" episodes of "I LOVE LUCY"!<G>

As I've stated many times before, FLXIBLE sure knew what STYLE was all about!

All:

Not to get too far off-topic, but my comment about the 1955 "I LOVE LUCY" episodes set in Hollywood reminded me of the classic episode where Lucy and Ethel board a Gray Line bus to take a sightseeing tour to see Beverly Hills.

Like the FLXIBLE, the "CROWN" was a sleek coach, both handsome and distinctive in design.......

NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629,

I believe the 'Lucy' episode you refer to is the one where Lucy and Ethel insist on getting off the tour bus in front of Jack Benny's house in a frenzy in the hope of meeting the 'master of comedy'.

I don't remember if they used Mr. Benny's real house and street but, if they did, it would have been the house right next door to Ms. Ball's own real house on North Roxbury Drive.

I'm very familiar with the neighborhood because my parent's oldest and closest friends lived at Whittier and Sunset just around the corner.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

Mr. "L":

According to one of the books I have on "I LOVE LUCY" (I've been a devoted fan of this classic show for decades!), when Lucy and Ethel get off the GRAY LINE bus in Beverly Hills, the house they are seen walking towards (supposed to belong to Richard Widmark) was actually the Arnazes' new domicile on Roxbury Drive!

Another bus-related bit of trivia from one of the "I LOVE LUCY" Hollywood episodes, in the "LUCY VISITS GRAUMAN'S" installment, there is a VERY quick scene of an Old Look passing in front of the theatre (film playing was "THE TALL MEN", starring Clark Gable and Jane Russell).

Also, in the 1957 episode, "LUCY MEETS SUPERMAN", when Lucy is out on the ledge outside of their apartment building, we see Lucy looking down several stories down to the street, where we see an Old Look pull up to the corner bus stop!

Yes, I've been watching this classic series for ages...... Wink

Mr. "L":

Here is another GRAY LINE scene from the 1955 "Lucy" episode, "THE TOUR".

Note the "LEXINGTON" street sign.

The classic CROWN and shiny new IMPERIAL truly date this long-ago scene!
