I'm going to take a guess and say that it MIGHT be an ex-TRAILWAYS coach (I'm going by the paint scheme on this one).
However, I'm sure Mr. "L" would be able to give us the correct answer.....

Just came across this photo; the same 4106 can be seen on the far left.....

I had posted this 1969 view last night, but, after closer examination, I decided to post it again.
Here's a SEPTA Fishbowl on a charter, parked at South Ferry, Manhattan.
In front of the bus we can just glimpse a portion of a 4104, obviously operating on another charter.
Possibly a TRAILWAYS coach?

The paint color is more orange than Trailways red, and the design on it is incorrect. |

Close, but the paint design is not a National Trailways standard design.
Back in those years, Trailways member companies for the most part closely followed the standard scheme, and only the coach number and the 'small print' on the lower sides indicated the actual owner/operator. |

Why do you think I only GUESSED?
As I am far, far removed from a TRAILWAYS expert, I figured the only option I had was to ONLY guess!
Be interesting, though, to learn of the 4106's original owner.......

Glad the photo brought back some good memories!
I well recall the old Manhattan Automats as a kid, back in the 60's......sure beats the same-old/same-old fast joints of today!
I lasted visited Philly back in 1982; two weekend visits.
Did not get to ride any buses, trolley coaches, or PCC's, but was able to get to ride the old Bullet and Strafford cars on the old P&W, as well as the classic Broad Street Subway cars (the Art Deco "Flash Gordon" Bridge cars were my faves!) and "Almond Joy" Market-Frankford El cars!
Was great to really experience living transport history!
Where has 30 years gone..........
