"Mystery" coach seen briefly in 1978's "THE BRINK'S JOB (set in Boston; a number of on-location scenes were used).

At first I thought bus might have been a prewar ACF, then dismissed it.

Possibly a YELLOW......

NYO -

"THE BRINK'S JOB coach? A look at it, and it does seem much like an A C F. Note placement of the small logo,
top of radiator grille. IMHO, not so sure of the YELLOW possibility...

IMDb report lists Mass. locations, and a reference to Towanda, PA. So, the coach likely came from a source in the
State? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077275/locations

I take it that your previous post is an "encore" performance?<G>

In any event, that classics scene would sure look good blown up about a dozen times, and hung on someone's den wall!<G>

NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629,

I don't know how it doubled and what's more I don't see any way to delete the second entry.

Sorry about that.

It's a Yellow Coach the model of which is either 714 or 715 (the 715 being only a slightly improved version over the 714).

Mr. "L"/Vern.......

Thank you both; appreciate your input!

So, it IS a YELLOW!

Like Vern, I was thinking along the lines of a prewar ACF, but, dismissed that quickly, after consulting one of my books on ACF/ACF-BRILL coaches.

DID have a aura of ACF about it it, though!

I well remember this handsome ACF-BRILL IC-41 having many cameos in the old "ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW"; many times, we'd get to see Aunt Bee boarding this classic coach, off to visit her sister......

In my day, the big TDM's were commonplace sights in my home state of "New Joisey", rostered by many carriers, including PSNJ, O&B, INTER-CITY, and LAKELAND.

The TDM, like the TDH, was a solid, reliable, handsome, long-lived coach, legendary for its outstanding reliability.

"Legends Of The Road", indeed, and an ALL-TIME favorite of yours truly!

This particular coach was used in an episode of the old "ROUTE 66" tv series.....

All:

The undeniable, diehard "Brit bloke" in me compelled to travel "across the pond" to Jolly Olde England, to seek out rubber-tired nostalgia there, courtesy of old photos and vintage film stills.

As is obvious from this particular photo, GB was home to some TOUGH-looking customers, back in the day! A right rum go, if ya ask me, guv'nor!

Blimey, mate! Sure beats a flimsy, bland shoe box!<G>

Remember, bus nostalgia knows no borders! Very Happy

Install a right-hand door on this handsome LEYLAND TOYAL TIGER and you'd have a coach that wouldn't have looked all that out of place in 1950's America!

Paint scheme on front is very reminscent of styles once so popular here at home, during that era.......

The dash-mounted destination blind on this regal LEYLAND "L2" LEOPARD recalls ACF-BRILL IC-41's, and the GM PD-4102's/4103's........

This wonderful old photo serves to remind us of a long ago time when coaches (recall, in GB, "coach" denotes a long-haul, inter-city vehicle, while "bus" is used to describe a "city" vehicle) were not only handsomely designed, but also, attractively painted as well.

Certainly beats a bland white box with minimal striping!

Awww, chuffin' heck!<G>

Several more vintage movie stills from GB, featuring historic buses/coaches.

Again, the sheer variety of vehicle types was astounding, back in the day!

Historic images of a long-lost Great Britain!

(quite a "sun roof" on one particular coach!)

A beautiful color photo of a 1955 AEC "RELIANCE"; again (IMHO) I can easily imagine this to be an ACF-BRILL product.

Note too, that, as was once commonplace in the USA many years ago, many British buses/coaches featured bodies built by companies other than that which manufactured "the works"
