NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629,
This is such a great photo that I thought you'd like to see it a little more clearly.
The first bus is a NYCO 4509 followed by what appear to be NYCO 4506's.
Note the height difference between the 4509 and the 4506's which was brought about by the Hydraulic V transmission placement on the 4509's.
Very nice!
Regards,
Mr. 'L'

Mr. "L"
Appreciate your posting this photo from my link, in all of its glorious b/w glory!
Seems like only yesterday handsome buses like these were still common, everyday sights!
I've seen this classic film too many times to count over the years, and, for OBVIOUS reasons, this scene is one of my favorites!
Appreciate the additional info, too!

This has to be my all time favorite movie seen! why? because I put the bus where you see it parked (story under comments at the above URL).
Also below is original dummy destination sign that I've had in the back of my workshop all these years!
Thanks for posting me!

Mr. 'L'

My Mom (now 94) was only married a few years when this classic (and nostalgic!) "Noo Yawk" street scene was snapped (note the classic IRT subway kiosk on the left; these humble structures were indeed "Noo Yawk" landmarks in their own right!

Needless to say, this lifelong "Joisey Boy" took one quick glance at this classic 1940's shot and KNEW I was looking at a busy street scene in Newark, showing PSNJ in its heyday!<G>
PSNJ......truly the modern-day equivalent of the great Roman Empire!
Note that the ASV's are still sporting prewar colors, while the Old Look is wearing the handsome new gray scheme, that was soon to become a distinctive PS "signature" for many years to come......

Mr. "L".......
I take it that your previous post is an "encore" performance?<G>
In any event, that classics cene would sure look good blown up about a dozen times, and hung on someone's den wall!<G>

A rare bird indeed was this YELLOW PG-2902 "CRUISERETTE", seen in 1952's "THE THEIF" (a blurred antique in the background, as a bonus!)<G>.
Film takes place in both DC and Manhattan....
