No expert here. Lots of guesses. The only thing in the photograph that I am familiar with is the Perry turnstile inside the bus, a holdover from private ownership. The photo presents several questions. Which el is that? West Street, Queens, near Queensborough Plaza would have a similar structure in view, but I doubt the Brooklyn buses went near there.

The side sign says 24 (to) West Street. West Street, Brooklyn, Greenpoint, could have been the termination of a Greenpoint Avenue bus, currently numbered B24. However, I cannot think of an el on that route, especially an el with a BMT-style signal.

Maybe these buses were just removed from service and were parked off route.

Note that the 21 DEKALB sign is clean. There is a chance that before the war broke out, there was a thought to a future 21 DEKALB bus line. However, the streetcars on DeKalb had twice the capacity of these small buses. Among the nycsubway.org collection of St. Louis trackless trolley photos, there are one or two buses with planned, never wired, routes showing, as enthusiasts were playing with the roller signs. (Examples: 69 VANDERBILT; 58 CORONA.) The 21 DEKALB sign may never have been put it service.

The next photo in the series, image 3611, shows the next bus numerically, 343, in service with a new Board of Transportation seal. I cannot make out the lettering on 342, but it may be New York City Transit.

I am almost positive that the well-patronized DeKalb streetcar became bus route B38 in January, 1949.

Glad you've been enjoying the photos!

I must admit, I am QUITE surprised as to how many rare shots I found!

The photo with the El you were referring to.....I will take a LONG shot, here.......could pic have been taken at East New York?

Possibly, too, this MIGHT have been a very early enthusiasts excursion, where it did not matter what signs were displayed.

Again, I'm only taking wild guesses, here!

Will try to find some more old views, later!

East New York is a good possibility for Image 3610, as in that era the BMT used signals of that boxy shape, while the Interborough signals had larger lenses that made them wider with a curved top. I doubt that the elevated structure is the ENY storage yard, but there are plenty of other overhead lines that could be in the background of bus storage in or near ENY.

According to data given, photo is circa 1935; this, of course, is far off course; photo would date at least to the1940's/50's.

Bus seen is No.1997 of NEW YORK CITY OMNIBUS.

Look carefully at elevated; if I am not mistaken, these appear to be NYCRR MU's (note, too, what seems to be a baggage wagon on the left).

125th St. station of the NYC/NH, possibly?

Then again (rail cars are too much in shadow here), these might be MUDC's on the 3rd Avenue line......again, I'm only guessing.....

Great factory photo of fleet # 173 - a 1947 40 passenger Twin Coach Model 41-S and one of forty numbered 160 to 199 ordered by the North Shore Bus Company of Flushing, New York but delivered to the City of New York Board of Transportation's newly formed Queens Bus Division.

The city took over North Shore in the midst of Twin Coach's performance of the contract.

As always, appreciate additional info!

I recall seeing a most unusual (circa 1950?) photo in a book on Middle Atlantic lighthouse quite awhile ago, which showed a panoramic view of the Coney Island lighthouse and surrounding neighborhood.

A postwar TWIN is seen going down an adjacent street.....your sure don't see many photos of New York transit buses passing by a lighthouse!

Ever heard of that company?
