If indeed it is a reproduction, it appears to be a pretty good one.

Here's a genuine 4501 'bone yard' filled with our beloved Greyhound Scenicruisers.

The only clues as to where this place might be is the '683' area code on the company sign (upper right) and the fact the 'Ed', the owner of the website that the image came from, lives in Cerritos, California and is a retired Greyhound driver.

The photo must have been taken very recently because there's a couple of fairly modern vehicles parked (lower right).

I love the little antique International in the front row!

Enjoy,

Mr. 'L'

Based upon a quick search on Wikipedia, if we want to visit the boneyard, we have to get our passports ready since 683 area code is in and around Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Hart Bus -

Doesn't work? The lead "683" is NOT the Area Code! See the sign, and no Area Code diplayed.

Also, see the referred website, displayed on photo credit. It is elusive as to precisely where these guys are sited.
Besides, photo of the "dry patch" hints at Western States locale?

Vern,

I think that it will have to be left up in the air as to whether that's an area code or not.

It really depends upon the sign painters style - the dot after the 683 could be followed by another dot after the 255 - but we'll never know!

Actually, you almost never see a business sign today without an area code principally because so many areas are now overlaid meaning that they have more than one code in the same realm of service (my learned colleagues from both New York City and Nassau County can attest to that and what inconveniences are caused by it).

Here's another scenario; a traveler from out of town passes this lot in the evening and sees a vehicle of interest to them and wants to call the next day for more information - they may well need an area code.

But, as I said above - we may never know!

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

Mr 'L' -

SIGH! Just when I thought you may know these people! <G>

The website address (in photo) works. Just no explanatory info about where they are...

Apparantly Ed does not have buses, he just takes pictures. The bus grave yard in the photo is in Gila Bend Arizona. He has a couple of photos of this place at the following link:
http://edbuses.com/cemetery_of_buses
Also, 683 is an exchange, not an area code.
