I finally got around to this introduction.
I grew up in Mount Vernon, NY up until my family moved us to Brewster, NY in August of 1963.
I lived near the South 1st Avenue and East 3rd Street intersection and the South 1st avenue and East 1st Street intersection. Con Ed building and the Mount Vernon Post Office and the Library across the street.
I would watch the busses from Westchester Street Transportation from the 1st avenue and 3rd street intersection as well as the Macks from the Yonkers Railroad/Transit from the 1st avenue and 1st street intersection.
I had relatives in Yonkers on Lockwood avenue. I would watch the GM old look Club Transportation busses go up and down the hill. Occasionally, I would walk down to the Club Transportation yard off of Saw Mill River Road.

Garages
Mount Vernon
Westchester Street Transportation Garden Ave. (old 3rd Ave Railway [TARS])
Fageol Twin Coach, Mack and GM Old Look
I would see the lot on my way to play ball at Hutchinson Field.
Later on FACCO GM old looks were stored here as well.
This lot was visible from the First National supermarket (parcel pick up) that was above this lot.
-------
Westchester Surface Ways Oak Street near a Mount Vernon fire house.
Macks for transit and GM Highway/Parlor Coaches for charters
An executive of this company was a retired executive from Mack Trucks, hence the Mack inventory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yonkers
Club Transportation off of Saw Mill River Road
GM Old Look
Little did I know that the Phelps Dodge plant down the street would become the Westchester County Bee Line garage.
--------
Yonkers Railroad/Transit Dock Street on the Hudson.
Mack and Mack "new looks" because of a garage fire.
-----------
Liberty Lines (before the Bee Line garage)
Edgecomb Place (near the Saw Mill Parkway and the old Putnam Division of the New York Central RR)
GM old looks both transit and suburban (for charters)
Right before we moved from Mount Vernon, I saw my first GM “new look”.
It was running the “number 7” route between Yonkers and Mt. Vernon. I saw it near the New Haven railroad station. |

I grew up in the country and wished I could ride a fishbowl bus. |
