Found this link on another board about a subway bone yard in the forests of North Carolina. Mostly SEPTA stuff, but for Mr.L's amusement and detective skills there is one picture of the right front side of the bus. The side destination may hold a clue

ECA,
I'm getting nowhere with the URL you provided except something about Joan Rivers who I don't need.
I'm very interested in seeing the roll sign - can you give me a better clue?
Best regards,

New York was a bad guess by the author.
Route 6, Killarney-26 Avenue is a route run by Calgary Transit, hence the CTS logo on the side. |

ECA,
I would never have guessed what this one was but I thank you for your vote of confidence.
Thanks to JimmiB for coming up with the answer.
I knew it wasn't New York because the only operator that ran even a handful of post war ACF-Brills was Queens/Nassau Transit Lines and some part of their original orange and cream livery certainly would have been obvious under all that rust.
Best regards,

Interesting link. Why save so any unless you were going to operate over a long distance. Otherwise why not preserve just one or two cars from each class and operator, so that they could get the TLC they need. Seems like a poor allocation of time and resources. |

From what I've read/heard, the owner bought a bunch of PCCs from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, and Toronto at scrap prices when they were retired with the intent of reselling them for a profit either as whole cars or parts, although he had stated in the past that his intention was to run a trolley tour of coal mines and steel mills. Vintage Electric also brokered the purchase of the Toronto cars now running in Kenosha. |
