Heartbreaking as it might seem to us old school bus enthusiasts, today Detroit Diesel only offers its 12.8 L DD13 engines for motorcoach applications; transit bus applications are not mentioned in their online literature:

Not only doe DD want to avoid the transit bus market, according to their website DD engines only are available in certain Freightliners and Western Stars. Now that Cat has abandoned the highway diesel market, only Cummins is left... |

Not quite....Our latest (2011) Prevost H3-45's are powered with Volvo diesels. |

And, let the FED Anti Trust Zanies worry over this one. It was their own EPA which "set the stage" for this (surely will be alleged) "monopoly market"?
