By the time this (Brooklyn) photo was snapped in 1978, the iconic "Jetsons" were indeed quite "long in the tooth", and were indeed in the twilight of the years.........

Hillside Avenue, 1978; this now-classic veteran is still proudly proclaiming the traditional "Wearin 'o The Green"!

Notice that by 1978-80, the oldest "Jetsons" were the ones ordered more recently (the 2000's were from 1962). Their yeoman service belied the "old clunker" label WNEW-TV slapped onto them in the wake of the "Borough Bomber" hubbub. |

W.B.:
Here in "Joisey", in my immediate area of Hudson County back in the 60s, "Jetsons" were simply not to be seen.
It was not until 1966/1967 that Fishbowls began to make strong inroads into the Hudson County "indy" fleets, replacing the veteran square-window Old Looks, "Pattons", and WHITES; so, of course, these Fishbowls were all "bullets".
You had to go across town (Union City) to see PSNJ "Jetstons" working on lines like the #44; last "Jetsons" I recall at all were "suboibans", back in the early 1980s, then operated by "En-Jay-Tee"............

Back in the day, both "Jetsons" and "Bullets" in the PS/TNJ fleet sported natwings (note: not all buses were so equipped)...........

That bus looked like it hadn't had a new paint job since 1968-69, given the 'M' insignia in how it was laid out. |

W.B.:
I would indeed agree with you on that point; indeed, that work-wearing "Jetson" was indeed showing the battle scars of many years of hard work.
NOTHING today could even BEGIN to TRY to "measure up" to the Fishbow, whether it be a "Jetson" or a "Bullet"!
Quick question(s)
1:
What garage(s) stabled the last "Jetsons"?
2:
What routes were the used on?
3:
When were the last retired?
Thanks...............

A few quick questions regarding #100:
1:
When was the "Myew-zeeum's" #100 "Jetson" retired, and put into preservation?
2:
What route(s) did it run on?
3:
What garage(s) was this now-historic bus based at, at time of retirement?
Appreciate info, as always.....
