I could have sworn that this pic was taken in NJ!
Perhaps, then, the Old Look seen on the right was indeed an ex-PSNJ unit.
Here in NJ, I remember the PS buses assigned to school runs not only carrying the metal "SCHOOL" signs, but also, large flasher lights, fore and aft.
VERY impressive, to say the least!

It was such a brilliant marketing job! Note, credit to HIGHWAY TRAVELER (PD-4104), grabbed Award for Best Supporting Actor!
There were more of them than PD-4501 Coaches, yet each worked to promote the other! This was pure genius!

Indeed!
Not only was the SCENICRUISER a marvel of its time, it also benifited tremendously from GREYHOUND's crack advertising troops!
These guys KNEW how to take a SUPERIOR product and to further promote it to the heavens!

Ironically, I just recieved an early 60's tin toy SCENICRUISER in the mail from eBay; one of those cute little "dime store" replicas, which sold for about 49 cents, back in my day!
Today, I stand and look at my vintage toy SCENICRUISER collection and, not only marvel at the endless accolades that this magnificent coach once recieved, but also, at how many variations introduced by those wonderful manufactuers of Japanes tin toys, 50 years ago! |

Here's 'Korea Greyhound'
This is where the best of what was left of the 4501's disappeared to at the end of their useful U.S. service.
These buses played an important role in helping to develop South Korea after the war.

Another stray PD 4501 found in a photo taken in July of 1975 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The bus, owned by H. M. White - a Suffolk, Virginia charter company, still remains in its original Greyhound livery and it is possible that its fleet number 802 may well be the serial number of the chassis.
Seems to be in pretty nice shape considering that it probably had well over a million miles on it at the time the frame was taken.

Here's the successor to the PD 4501 in the form of GM's PD 4107 (dubbed the 'Buffalo' because its roof configuration was somewhat similar to that animal's back).
The pictured bus (caught on camera in Melbourne in 1975) is a unique model because it was built for an Australian operator and features right hand drive.
None of the eleven hundred PD 4501's produced had right hand drive because of their exclusivity to Greyhound's U.S. operations.
1,267 PD 4107's were built between 1966 and 1969 and included the last order of GM buses ever to be sold to Greyhound.

I always referred to these handsome coaches as "Baby Scenicruisers"......I think that moniker is quite fitting, don't you?
I have not ridden one of these beautiful old coaches in well over 20 years .....probably closer to 25 years, now. 
Did not know that this type of coach also saw service "down under"; however, I DID know that quite a few Flxibles (Clippers) saw service in Australia, many years ago.
Starting in 1950, Ansair started building Flxible Clippers, and, did so until 1960.
Most were used by "PIONEER TOURS".
"Baby Scenicruisers" in Australia........yes, I like that thought......

Here's a White 798 for those 'down under' folks.
An interesting bit of trivia; if a right hand drive bus was following you it would appear as a left hand drive in your rear view mirror!
