From back when radio truly was king.
Now, of course, you wouldn't see an ad for a radio station anywhere on a BINO. |

W.B.:
Nor would you see a "BINO" furnished with a traditional ad RACK* displaying a CARDBOARD advertising card!
Look at those colorful, vintage bus ads, which would be awesome historical pieces today, that were simply tossed into the MTA's dumpsters, when it came time to replace them with newer ads.

*Back in the days of cardboard exterior ads, how long (on average) were they carried before they were removed?
Several months?

And of such magnitude to take out a hundredth mortgage on the home - just as with the front and 'batwing' side roll signs pictured in the first shot especially. |

Like the cardboard ad cards themselves, the vast majority of roller curtains were simply regarded as "dumpster fodder", and nothing more..........truly BEYOND tragic.
Besides a Johnson Type "D" farebox, the other TOTALLY unattainable "transit trophy" for me would be to have a batwing rear door roller curtain sign box......just ain't happenin........

What construction "woik" have you been seeing, for the new "Port-of-Authority", as of late?
Demolition?
Street closures?

"Repeat Performance"?
Just heard on Eyewitness News at 6 that, earlier today, there was ANOTHER collision between two NJT buses, on the inbound ramps of the PABT; this accident involved a NABI and an MCI.
A quick glimpse of the front of the MCI revealed quite a bit of damage; thankfully, no fatalities, though there were injuries........

Other than barricades, not much. |

Thanks.
Cannot wait to see that monstrocity which was once the "most beautiful bus station in the world" finally bite the dust.....no love lost, here; what I loved and thrilled to growing up eons ago has long since disappeared down the echoing corridors of time......

Anything interesting going on lately, regarding demolition/construction work, etc, for the new "Port-of-Authority"?
Thanks........
