And the next day, the new Fresh Pond depot opened to house many of the new "Jetsons" coming in . . . and the "Boigan" Street depot closed, later to become the sign shop for the subways. |

W.B.:
I am sure that the "Tee-Yay" was indeed also looking to "score points" with the riding public, in replacing the "old-fashioned" trolleybuses with their "ugly, unsightly wires" with sleek, new, modern diesel buses.
Was just thinking: NOT ONE photo at nycsubway.org showing trolleybuses being "woiked" on, or laying over at "Boigan" Street.
Important to remember also that the B&QT trolleybuses were the last such vehicles in the "Noo Yawk" area; PSNJ's ASV's were then gone 12 years already..........

You might know about this........
What info on the latest "Battery BINOs" being "poichased" by the "Em-Tee-Yay"?
Are these "Bendies" or the usual "shoeboxes"?
Can't believe that they day has, alas, finally come when there is NOT ONE BUS (and I use the term "bus" more in jest than anything else) in "Noo Yawk" that I can say I actually LIKE,
Last ones, of course, were the "Are-Tee-Es"; I STILL mourn for Fishbowls, "Dangerfields", "Kramdens", and "Pattons".........

From what I hear and have read, they're regular milk cartons with something poorly resembling "batwings" on top, like the current BINO's; to be assigned to Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn. Sort of similar to the "Tee-Yay's" priorities of old when the "Jetsons" were "foist" introduced, no? Back then, it was Queens and Brooklyn first, Manhattan next - and the "Isle of Staten" for when the first "express bus" was started in 1965. And no doubt with those hanging wires you pull like in the olden days, to signal your next stop. Today, in terms of new "buses," forget "da Bronx," of course. |

Sounds like the "new kids on the block" are going to be every bit as "ho-hum" and boooooring as what has been running out there on "Noo Yawk" streets, ever since the iconic RTS was dethroned......

Perhaps it is just as well that Brooklyn no longer operates trolleybuses; the last modern trolleybuses I like were those on the Cambridge lines up in "Bah-ston", before the "T" fooolishly "pulled the plug on the swift, silent electric coaches, several years ago.
Case in point:
Look at the MONSTROCITIES operating in certain cities these days......giant milk cartons, perhaps mating with an alien species of giant insect, perhaps?
Some REALLY hideous vehicles operating south-of-the-border these days; ditto Europe and Asia.........

"Another good description would be:
"JUBs" (Juiced-up Binos")
What IS scary as all heck, is that, when you see some other TRULY REPULSIVE "BINOs"/"JUBs" around the world nowadays, you realize that what SEPTA operates are ALMOST "normal"-looking, by comparison.....now THAT'S scary!!!!!!!!!!

Scroll down the page, and behold some TRULY FRIGHTENING-LOOKING "JUBs" from other areas of the world (Asia, South America, and Europe is home to some of the most BIZARRE vehicles!).....bulked-up, giant, mutated, electrically-charged, inspid, alien insects.....YOU JUST GOTTA WONDER just WHAT goes through the minds of the designers??
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolleybus
Perhaps their parents/grandparents spent a lot of time coming off bad acid trips back in the day, after attending a Jimi Hendrix concert!
"QUICK, HENRY! THE FLIT!"
Give me a REAL trolleybuses, built by a long-defunct AMERICAN builder, anyday!

And isn't it also "abroad" that many modern "subway cars" look like glass insects from outer space or something? |

Indeed!
And, don't forget the light rail units in Europe and Asia, truly resembling nothing more than giant, slithering, human-digesting alien serpents from some far-off galaxy.
I'd be SCARED as all heck if I were in some foriegn city, and saw one of these slithering, evil-looking, alien "machines" emerging from the fog on a stormy night........
