Interestingly, many routes continued into the SCRTD era. However, I haven't studied the current routes to see if any still exist. Some examples were the PE Venice Short Line, Long Beach Line, and the San Bernardino and Riverside lines. As for LARy lines, I'm sure there are others but I remember the Route 26 bus line that replaced the P car line because I rode it frequently.

This is an interesting photo; open-air inspection pits were not commonly used on traction properties; in Baltimore, the BTC's Gardenville (Baltimore) yard also used inspection pits until the end of streetcar service in late 1963..........

Streetcar service ended in Savannah, Gorgia.

Interesting, how, outside of New Orleans, there is no (AFAIK) books dedicated to Soiuthern traction properties; outsude of online photo collections and photos seen in books (as "regional" photos), there is nothing at allon the traction operations in Atlanta, Savannah, and otherSouthern cities.

A "drought" of sorts, indeed.....

Birmingham's PCCs were particularly handsome; alas, they did not run long in this city......these cars were sold to the TTC in 1953..........

SEPTA PCCs in New Orleans............

Back in the 1990s, New Orleans' RTA purchased a group of PCCs from SEPRA.

Interestingly, these cars operated under their own power to the Carrolton carhouse; it had been thought originally that these PCCs would be used as sightseeing/charter cars, but the RTA was not at all keen on having "nodern" cars share the rails with their historic fleet.

At least one car was revamped for use as a boutique, after being stripped of parts, as were the other cars, to be used on the "historic" fleet, all of the PCCs were scrapped.......
