NYC Omnibus,

The Hayes Liner was probably owned by Edward P. Hayes & Sons. They were based somewhere in Connecticut.

Roy:

Thank you!

Appreciate the info; had never heard of the company until last evening!

Allow me to go back to the photo of Mack 6223, image 1795, just a few posts back.
----
Were the Macks in the 6000's newer or older than the Bingham Macks, which were in the 5000's? I note that the bus is painted for the Board of Transportation, not yet NYCTA.
----
I note that 6223 is signed for B12 East New York Avenue, a former Brooklyn Bus Company route that I have never ridden. As with several other routes that used to terminate near Ebbets Field or Prospect Park, the destination is now given as Lefferts Gardens, exactly or almost exactly the same place.

The C-50 Bingham Macks (5200-5599) are 1950 models. The 6000 series (6000-6313) C-49 buses are 1956 models.

NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629 et al,

Here's a very rare and very interesting shot of the interior of the Coliseum Garage showing an extremely busy floor when it was under Surface Transportation control back in the forties.

Buses being serviced run the gamut in age from the mid thirties to the late forties including Twins, Macks and GM's.

Sorry for the quality of the image but I guess you have to take whatever you can get!

Photo courtesy of Bruce K. at eBay.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'
