I guess this doesn't really qualify as New York City transit history. I'll tell it anyway. On this day in 1990 I caught bus #916 home from school on the Q35. It was about the most exciting thing ever! I'm sure it was the oldest bus on the road regularly at that time and I had finally caught it. 916 was a Triboro Coach on loan I guess to Green Lines. The 1964 coach didn't have the A/C so I really got a kick out of all that extra space back there. What a ride! A day earlier on the 6th, I had let an RTS go by and caught 906-1 which was quite exciting, a 1970 on loan from Jamaica Bus. I was a good way to end the week for Dec. 7 was a Friday. |
