I'm well familiar with this road - it's just north of the Regional Transportation Center. There's no doubt in my mind that the Megabus driver was coming north on Interstate 81 and missed the exit to the center and decided to go up the parkway to turn around. Problem is, there's no place to reverse direction before coming to the overpass.
Meganbus/CUSA is in for some big-time lawsuits here - there are multiple signs warning of the 10' 9" overhead clearance and also a set of flashing lights well before the railroad bridge. The driver also had another exit he could have taken to a local street instead of going down the parkway. There was simply no excuse for this tragedy. |
